Key takeaways

  • Google retired the Questions and answers section of Business Profiles on 3 November 2025. You can no longer add questions or answers.
  • Google's AI now answers customers' questions about your business, using your profile, your reviews and your website.
  • To get those answers right, keep your description, attributes, services or menu, and hours complete and current.
  • Business Profile chat went away earlier, on 31 July 2024. For messages, use Messenger or Viber and link them from your profile.

Google Business Profile Q&A is gone

If you are looking for the questions and answers on your Google My Business profile, they are not coming back. Google officially discontinued the Q&A section of Business Profiles on 3 November 2025. The section disappeared from profiles gradually into 2026. Old questions may still show on some profiles for a while, frozen, but nobody can add a new question or answer, and new profiles are created without it.

Google pointed to the problems the section always had: answers that went out of date, questions nobody moderated, and spam. Anyone could answer a question about your business, including a competitor or a customer who guessed wrong, and owners often never saw the questions at all.

What replaced it: AI answers about your business

In place of the Q&A section, Google answers customers' questions with AI, using what it knows about your business: your profile details, your reviews and your website. Some reports call the feature "Ask about this place". A customer asks whether you have parking or accept GCash, and Google writes the answer instead of waiting for someone to reply.

This is the same shift happening across search. ChatGPT, Gemini and Google's own AI read your public information and summarise it for the customer. How to show up in ChatGPT and Gemini recommendations covers the wider picture; the practical point here is simpler. You no longer write the answers. You control the facts the answers are written from.

What to update so the answers are right

Everything the AI says about you comes from somewhere. If your profile says nothing about parking, the answer about parking is a guess. Go through these, in this order.

  • Description: up to 750 characters on what you sell, who it's for and where you are. Plain facts, no keyword lists.
  • Attributes: every one that applies, such as GCash and Maya, dine-in, takeout, delivery, wheelchair access, free wifi, parking.
  • Services or menu: each service or dish with a short description and, where you can, a price.
  • Hours: regular hours plus special hours for holidays, so the AI doesn't tell people you're open on a day you're closed.
  • Photos: recent ones of the entrance, the inside and what you sell. Check them with the free photo check.
  • Website or Facebook link: the page the AI reads to fill gaps. Make sure it says the same things as the profile.

The questions Filipino customers asked most, and where they go now

The questions people used to post on profiles were the same few, again and again. Each one now has a home in your profile, and in your reviews, because the AI reads those too. A review that says "may parking sa likod" answers the parking question better than any setting.

  • "Do you accept GCash?" Turn on the payment attributes you accept.
  • "May parking ba?" Use the parking attribute, and mention it in your description if parking is hard nearby.
  • "Open ba kayo Sunday?" Set your regular hours and add special hours for holidays.
  • "Do you deliver?" Turn on delivery and list the areas or apps you use.
  • "Magkano?" Add prices to your services or menu where you can.
  • "Pwede walk-in?" Say it in your description, or add a booking link if appointments are required.

Chat is gone too: what to use instead

Business Profile chat, the Message button some profiles used to have, was switched off earlier: customers could no longer start new chats from 15 July 2024, and Google removed chat and its history on 31 July 2024. The Call button still works, so keep your phone number current and answered.

For messages, your customers are already on Messenger and Viber. Add your Facebook Page to your profile's social links, put your Viber number in your description if you use it for orders, and reply quickly. The Facebook Page vs Google Business Profile guide explains how the two work together, and the Google Business Profile optimization guide covers the rest of the profile.

Frequently asked

No. Google discontinued the Questions and answers section on 3 November 2025. Nobody can post new questions or answers. Customers' questions are now answered by Google's AI from your profile details, reviews and website.
Where did my old Q&A go?
Existing questions and answers were frozen and are being removed gradually. You can't edit them. Put any important answer, such as payment methods or parking, into your profile's attributes and description instead.
Can I control what Google's AI says about my business?
Not directly, but you control what it reads. Keep your description, attributes, services, hours and website accurate, and reply to reviews that mention practical details. The more complete the facts, the less the AI has to guess.
