Holiday hours on Google, before the holiday

See the next Philippine holidays and set your Google Business Profile holiday hours before each one, so nobody drives to a closed shop that Google said was open.

How do I set holiday hours on Google for Philippine holidays?

Check the upcoming Philippine holidays on Mapkita's free holiday hours page, then in your Business Profile open Edit profile, Hours, Special hours and add each date as open, closed or with different hours. Do it before the holiday, or Google shows customers that your hours might differ.

How it works

  1. 1Look at the upcoming holidays below, including the ones declared by proclamation that move every year.
  2. 2Decide for each one: open as usual, different hours, or closed.
  3. 3Open your Business Profile, go to Edit profile, then Hours, then Special hours, and add the date. Mapkita does not change anything for you from this page.
  4. 4Check your listing on Google Maps the day before to see the special hours showing.

Why it matters

On a holiday, Google shows a warning that hours might differ unless you have confirmed them, and many customers read that as a reason to go somewhere else. Worse, if you close and Google says open, the customer who arrives at a locked door is the one most likely to leave a one-star review.

Philippine holidays are harder than most: Holy Week moves every year, several dates are only confirmed by proclamation weeks ahead, and local holidays differ by city. Setting special hours ahead is five minutes of work that protects a day of revenue and your rating. The full guide, including what to do when Google changes your hours on its own, is holiday hours on Google.

Frequently asked

How far ahead can I set special hours on Google?
Well ahead — you can add special hours for dates months in advance, so set them as soon as a holiday is confirmed rather than the night before.
Why does Google keep changing my business hours?
Google updates hours from customer suggestions, its own data and other websites when it thinks they are more current than yours. Keeping your hours confirmed and adding special hours for holidays makes that much less likely; the holiday hours guide explains how to undo an edit.
What does "hours might differ" mean on Google?
It is Google's warning on a holiday when the business has not confirmed special hours for that day. Adding special hours, even to say you are open as usual, removes it.
Should I mark my business temporarily closed for a holiday?
No. Temporarily closed is for closures of days or weeks, and it can affect how you appear in search. For a single holiday, set special hours for that date and mark it closed.

Holiday hours, set a week ahead

Mapkita asks “Open on the holiday?” a week ahead and publishes your special hours once you confirm.
