Check your Google Business Profile photos
Drop in a photo and see whether it is sharp, bright and the right shape for your Google Business Profile photos — before you upload it. The check runs on your device; nothing is sent to us.
Are my photos good enough for my Google Business Profile?
Drop a photo into Mapkita's free photo check. It tells you on your device whether the photo is sharp, bright and the right size for Google Business Profile before you upload it.
How it works
- 1Choose a photo from your phone or computer — the one you are thinking of uploading.
- 2We measure its size, sharpness, brightness and shape on your device.
- 3Each check passes or tells you what to fix: too dark, too small, too blurry or cropped badly for the spot Google will show it in.
- 4Upload the ones that pass from your Business Profile, and replace old photos that would not.
Why it matters
Photos are the first thing a customer judges on your profile, often before the rating. A profile with recent, clear photos gives customers a reason to call; a single blurry shot of the sign does not.
Google also decides which photo to show first, and a dark or badly cropped photo can end up as the image of your business in search results. Uploading a few good ones is the only way to influence that choice. For which shots to take and how often to add them, read Google Business Profile photos that bring customers.
Frequently asked
- How many photos should a Google Business Profile have?
- Enough to answer a customer's questions: the front so they recognise it, the inside, your best products or services, and your team. A dozen good photos beats fifty weak ones, and adding a few every month keeps the profile looking current.
- What size should Google Business Profile photos be?
- Google accepts JPG or PNG between 10 KB and 5 MB, at least 250 × 250 pixels, and recommends 720 × 720. A normal phone photo in good light is more than enough.
- Why does Google show a customer's photo instead of mine?
- Google picks the photo it thinks best represents the business for each search, and it often picks a recent customer photo. You can set a preferred cover photo, and uploading better, recent photos of your own is the most reliable way to be the one chosen.
- Can I delete a bad photo from my Google listing?
- You can delete photos you uploaded. A customer's photo cannot be deleted by you, but you can report it from the photo if it breaks Google's content rules, such as being off-topic or showing a person's private details.
